Measles Information
Our top priority is the health and well-being of our students and all members of our campus community. The following information is to help inform our campus about measles to ensure everyone stays healthy and informed.
Measles is a highly contagious and potentially serious illness, but it is almost entirely preventable with the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine. While there are currently no reported cases at the University of Kentucky, we are encouraging all students to check their vaccination status to protect themselves and our campus community.
What to do if exposed to measles:
If you (UK students or employees) have symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to measles, you should call University Health Service at 859-323-4636 and a provider will assess your symptoms. It's important to call ahead before coming in so that proper precautions can be taken to help prevent the spread of infection once you arrive.
Please bring your health insurance card, your prescription card (if you have one) and your UK WildCard ID. If you don't have insurance and have questions about the cost of vaccines, please speak with the pharmacists at your chosen location.
